Entering and leaving a motorway safely requires careful observation and timing:

Smart motorways use variable speed limits and lane management to control traffic flow. Key points:

• Observe overhead signs indicating open/closed lanes and speed limits
• Do not use the hard shoulder unless indicated as a live lane

• Keep alert for lane closures or incidents ahead

Correct lane use ensures safety and smooth traffic flow:

• Use middle or right lanes only to overtake slower vehicles
• Do not weave between lanes unnecessarily
• Return to the left lane when safe after overtaking

In case of a breakdown, follow these steps to ensure your safety:
